It’s spring cleaning season, and many of us will be decluttering and downsizing this month.

But where can you find a home for all that stuff? And how can you keep as much as possible out of the landfill?

Fortunately, there are many ways to sell and donate your used stuff.  Here are some ideas:

1.  Hold a garage/tag sale.  If your neighborhood allows, put remaining free items out in front of your house.

2.  Give away items to family and friends.

3.  Donate to thrift stores or through your church or synagogue.

4.  Give items away through Freecycle or the Reuse It Network.

5.  Sell items at consignment stores, or on Craigslist or eBay.

6.  Donate men’s work attire to Career Gear and women’s work clothes to Dress for Success.

7.  Donate baby and maternity items to WIC or through your OB/midwife’s office, and donate children’s books to Project Night Night.

Not sure where you can recycle a particular item?  Checkout Earth 911 and search using your zip code.
